Sports Star Sweet 16

Get all of your "fans" together for your big Sweet 16 birthday! Recreate the rousing atmosphere of a sports stadium with these sports party ideas for a high energy party everyone will enjoy and remember for a long long time. This theme is perfect for anyone who loves being active in sports, or for anyone with an active love of sports!

Sweet 16 Sports Party Invitations
A fun way to invite your friends to you sports party is to roll up the invitation and insert it into a sports water bottle, then hand deliver them! This will get everyone talking about the party way in advance (who else hands out party favors before the party even starts?)
No matter what sport you choose as your theme for your Sweet 16, the Creations For You Sports Party Shop has a personalized sports party invitation to match. And if by some strange stroke of fate we don't have one to match your sport (say you play elephant polo, curling, or you're a dart champion) ... then we can custom design one just for you.
Ticket invitations are perfect for any sports themed Sweet 16. You get to use your own wording, choose from seven colors and can order as few as 30. You can even get them with magnet backers so everyone can stick them on their fridge. That way no one forgets to get their game face on for your big birthday celebration.
If you want a completely unique invitation go with a personalized caricature invitation from Creations for You. What could be more fun than an invitation featuring a custom illustration of you dressed in you favorite team's uniform (maybe holding a big trophy)? These fabulous invitations are works of art to be treasured long after the party is over. And the caricature can be used again for your sign in board, centerpieces, even thank you notes.

Sweet 16 Sports Decorations and Party Supplies
Decorating is the best part of sports party planning. There are so many great sports party decorations to choose from! Depending on the sport theme you choose, your decorations will be slightly different. Your first step should be to pick a color scheme. This can be your team colors, or just your favorite colors. This color choice will drive the rest of your decorating decisions.
As your guests arrive greet them with a life-sized cutout of you sports gear! Place a sign in board or sign in book near the front of the room where your guests can leave you a message. Place a few baskets of wearables near the cutout. You guests will have a great time with fun sports party items like D-fence head boppers, baseball glasses, or basketball horns. You can even get wearables to match your color scheme. The crazier the items you hand out, the more fun people will have!
Use lots of balloon bouquets throughout the room. Group an odd number of latex balloons in your color scheme together and place them at the entrance, in the corners, on the tables, and anywhere else you need a bit of color. Add in a Mylar balloon (like a football, basketball, or baseball) to each bunch to add pizzazz.
Round out the room with a few more decorations. You can't go wrong with a 7' tall inflatable birthday cake; put it outside to let guests know where the party is, or use it as a focal point inside! Silver and gold star dangles are perfect hanging from the ceiling (you are a sports star, right?) Hang a personalized banner over your DJ or buffet (I personally like the Sports Star Photo Banner).

Sports Table Decorations and Menu
Decorate your tables with paper goods in your team colors; one color for the table cloth, another for the paper products. Make silverware bundles by wrapping plastic silverware in napkins and using something fun and unexpected as a napkin ring (try baseball beads, soccar ball beads, football whistles, or beads in a contrasting color to your napkin).
An inflatable trophy is the perfect centerpiece. Scatter a few light up pom poms around the base, and use foiled wrapped chocolates that look like sports balls as table confetti. Your local candy store should carry a variety of styles.
Don't forget to decorate your buffet, gift and cake tables as well! The metallic table skirts and metallic table cloths will do the trick.

For your menu go with an assortment of stadium foods:
Nachos - full loaded!
Potato chips and onion dip
Pretzels and other "snacks" - Doritos, Cheetos, etc.
Mozzarella Sticks
Mini pigs in a blanket - get a 40 pack (or 2!) of frozen dogs at the grocery store.
Veggies and dip
Wings
Pizza

and for drinks...
Pop
Bottled Water (with a custom label)
Beer - for the adults (with a custom label)

Sweet 16 Games and Activities
A fun activity for a sports themed Sweet 16 party is a sports trivia contest. Have a variety of questions handy (make some of them easy to give the non-sports buffs at the party a chance), and winners get their choice of a fun sports inflatable!
Or have a skills contest in your chosen sport. If you do not have the space to go outside and play, consider renting a sports themed arcade game that your guests can try their skill at.
Most of the activity at your party will take place on the dance floor. But you can make it extra fun by giving your DJ glow jewelry to hand out. A virtual message writer is another fun prop for the DJ.
Another common activity at a Sweet 16 party is the candle lighting ceremony. Checkout out the Sweet 16 Candle Lighting Ceremony Guide if you need instructions. And don't forget to check out our complete list of Sweet 16 Party Games, Baseball Party Games, or Golf Party Games!

Sweet 16 Party Favors
Like any sporting event, your Sports Star Sweet 16 party will have to end at some point. Make sure everyone is a winner by sending your guests home with a personalized candy bar. A delicious milk or dark chocolate candy bar surrounded by a custom designed wrapper from Creations for You is a tasty way to end the festivities.
Another great party favor is a custom T-Shirt with "Team Jennifer" (substitute your name of course) and the number 16 on it. Send us an e-mail for more information!

Have a great time at your Sports Star Sweet 16!
